On February 28, 2015 to March 1, 2015, 22 students and 1 teacher from Kamaile Academy, Maili Elementary, and Waianae Intermediate came together to review and critique their work that they had created using the concepts and skills that they had learned at the January 2015 workshop. Students had an opportunity to get their work critiqued by John Allen of Waiʻanae High School Searider Productions, a seven time Emmy Award winner, and who has over 10+ years of video production and directing experience under his belt. On January 24th and 25th, 20 students and 2 teachers from Kamaile Academy, Maile Elementary and Wai'anae Intermediate participated in the STEM Pre Academy Beginners Workshop at Searider Productions Wai'anae High. The students learned about the basics of visual storytelling, creating websites, video editing and photography.
On November 15th and 16th, 40 students and teachers from across the island of Oahu participated in the STEM Pre-Academy journalism workshop. The objective of the workshop was to enhance digital media and broadcast journalism skills. These skills would allow the teachers and students to translate and document stories for Hiki No and the schools media programs.
Over 66 students and 18 teachers were at Searider Productions, Wai'anae High School to participate in the Fall Break Hiki No workshop on October 4th - 7th. Check out their journey below.
